Kifowit maintains support for education while serving as Principal for a Day

State Rep. Stephanie Kifowit, D-Oswego, recently took on the role of ‘Principal for a Day’ at Plank Junior High in Oswego, while she spoke with students, observed classrooms and enjoyed the school’s talented musical program.

“It’s amazing to see the passion behind the hard work being done by these students, teachers and administrators,” Kifowit said. “They see every day as a new opportunity to learn more and achieve more, and I will continue to support their missions in every way I can both legislatively and locally.”

Earlier in this year, Kifowit voted for a statewide education budget that increases funding to School District 308 by $6.7 million. As a mom and former substitute teacher, she is also demanding that efforts to reform the state’s education funding formula do not diminish support for local schools and deny opportunities to local students. Plank Junior High principal James Martin was excited to spotlight innovative teachers with Kifowit and share their passion for educating young minds.

“I am excited state Rep. Kifowit was able to see the impact our education and instruction are having on the students of Plank Junior High,” Martin said. “Our children deserve the best education possible to help prepare them to compete in a global economy, and Kifowit’s continued support will help us provide a strong foundation for our students.”
