Two injured in four-vehicle Route 47 crash

A Millington resident, Dennis J. Craddock, 31, of the 100 block of West Race Street, was seriously injured in a four vehicle crash on Route 47 at Corneils Road in Yorkville Thursday at 12:32 p.m., according to Yorkville police.

Police said Craddock's northbound Nissan pickup truck was stopped on Route 47 at Corneils Road when it was rear-ended by a northbound semi-trailer being driven by Michael D. Janes, 24, of the 200 block of W. Ellen Avenue, Cortland.

The force of the collision spun Craddock's vehicle around and it was struck on the passenger side by a Volkswagen Golf being driven by Jakob Price, 19, of the 200 block of Walsh Circle, Yorkville. Price was driving southbound on Route 47.

Janes lost control of his semi-trailer and it then struck a Ford pickup being driven southbound on Route 47 by Jarrott B. Schramm, 35, of Stonebridge Lane, St. Charles.

Schramm lost control of his vehicle and it overturned, landing on the roof.

Police said Janes' semi-trailer then proceeded 50 feet into an adjoining field.

Police said Craddock sustained major injuries in the crash and was transported to Rush Copley Medical Center in Aurora by Bristol-Kendall Fire Protection District paramedics.

Paramedics also transported Price to Rush Copley Medical Center, police said.

Janes was ticketed for failure to reduce speed to avoid an accident, according to police.
