Fox Valley Academy youth orchestra auditions Jan. 8: The Fox Valley Academy of Music Performance invites students, ages 8-18, to audition for the second half of its 2016-17 season. The orchestras are principally looking for string and woodwind players. The FVAMP is comprised of various orchestral ensembles. Its members study challenging music, work with music professionals, perform in the Fox Valley community and enjoy the camaraderie of other student-musicians. Winter Treasures Garage Sale: The Fern Dell Historic Association is organizing its annual Winter Treasures Garage Sale. The sale will be held Friday, Jan. 27, and Saturday, Jan. 28, at the Newark American Legion, 1300 Fennel Road in Newark. Donations of clean clothing in good condition and miscellaneous goods in working order can be dropped off at the Newark Legion between noon and 5 p.m. on Wednesday, Jan. 25, and between 8 a.m. and 5 p.m. on Thursday, Jan. 26. “Threads” and More Group: The “Threads” and More group meets on the first Tuesday of each month from 10 a.m. to noon in the Historical Room of the Yorkville Public Library, 902 Game Farm Road, Yorkville.
