Kendall County court cases

• Jason Kenealy, 21, of Plainfield, was charged with illegal use of emergency lights, a Class 2 felony, for allegedly using red and white oscillating, rotating or flashing lights on his vehicle to stop another person, without lawful authority, on March 8, according to Kendall County court records. Bail was set at $50,000 and a court date of March 15 was set.

• Joseph Brown, 21, 600 block of Redtail Court, Yorkville, was charged with possession of a controlled substance, a Class 4 felony, for allegedly possessing less than 15 grams of cocaine on March 8, according to Kendall County court records. Bail was set at $5,000 and a court date of March 22 was set.

• John Braaksma, 49, 1100 block of Gates Street, Aurora, was charged with retail theft, a Class 3 felony, for allegedly stealing four car batteries, worth more than $300, from a store in the 2300 block of Route 34, on Sept. 8, according to Kendall County court records. A motion to set bail was issued and a court date of March 24 was set.

• Deverick Alex, 25, of Chicago, was charged with armed violence, a Class X felony, for allegedly grabbing a man by the shirt, holding him down on the ground while armed with a “shank” on March 6 at the Kendall County Correctional Facility, according to Kendall County court records. Alex was also charged with possession of contraband in a penal institution, a Class 1 felony; forcible detention, a Class 2 felony; and aggravated unlawful restraint, a Class 3 felony. Bail was set at $500,000 and a court date of March 16 was set.

• Brennan Thomas, 28, of Ottawa, was charged with possession of a controlled substance, a Class 4 felony, for allegedly possessing heroin on March 5, according to Kendall County court records. Bail was set at $5,000 and a court date of March 30 was set.

• Catherine Boyd, 37, 2300 block of Thunder Gulch Drive, Montgomery, was charged with theft, a Class 4 felony, for allegedly taking less than $500 from a man on Feb. 5, under the promise of renting him a room in her home, having already been previously convicted of felony theft, according to Kendall County court records. Bail was set at $35,000 and a court date of June 7 was set.

Boyd was also charged with theft, a Class 4 felony, for allegedly taking a Total Gym XL, worth less than $500, from someone on Feb. 3, having already been convicted of theft. 

She was additionally charged with theft, a Class 4 felony, for allegedly taking less than $500 from a person on May 3, under the promise of renting him a room in her home, having already been previously convicted of theft. Boyd was charged with an additional count of theft, a Class 4 felony, for allegedly taking items, worth less than $500, from someone on May 3, having already been previously convicted of theft.
