Criminal damage charge
Plano police arrested Luis Armando Vargas-Valdiviezo, 20, of the 900 block of West South Street, Plano, on a charge of criminal damage to property April 16 at 12:54 a.m. in the 100 block of East Main Street. Police said they were summoned to the East Main Street location in response to a domestic dispute during which the front windshield of a vehicle was struck and damaged.
Plano man arrested in Blue Island
A Plano resident, Kevin L. Avery, 55, of the 200 block of North Hugh Street, was taken into custody by Blue Island police April 11 at a residence in Blue Island on a charge of failure to register as a sex offender, a Class 3 felony, Plano police reported.
Police said Avery failed to show up for his quarterly registration for sex offenders at the Plano police station in February. Their subsequent investigation led them to the residence in Blue Island.
In addition to the failure-to-register charge, police said Avery was wanted on warrants for failing to appear on another charge of failure to register as a sex offender in Kane County and another warrant for obstructing identification in Evergreen Park.
Police said Avery is currently being held on bond in Cook County.
Battery, disorderly charges
Plano police arrested Serena Stewart, 19, of the 3200 block of Thomas Lane, Montgomery, April 13 at 4:07 p.m. at a gas station in the 1000 block of West Route 34 on charges of battery and disorderly conduct. Police said they were summoned to the business on a report of a fight in progress involving two female subjects. Police said Stewart was booked and released pending a court date.
Plano police arrested Nicholas M. Torres, 36, of the 4400 block of Klatt Street, Plano, April 12 at 10:59 p.m. while responding to a report of a domestic disturbance at his residence. Police said Torres was arrested on a DuPage County warrant for failure to appear in court on a charge of obstructing a court order.
Motorist facing charges
Plano police arrested Evelina M. Juarez, 23, of the 900 block of West Jones Street, Plano, after stopping her vehicle for having no rear registration light. Police said Juarez was cited for having no rear registration light and for driving on a suspended license.
