Yorkville police reports

Battery at bar

Yorkville police took a report of a man hitting a woman at a bar in the 200 block of South Bridge Street on April 12. Police said a 37-year-old woman told them that a male had head-butted her nose after an argument about the TV in the bar. Police said all involved parties left the bar and the woman contacted the police after the incident. The man was not located, police said.

Cited for marijuana

Yorkville police cited Victoria Pendry, 23, of the 400 block of Pine Street, Millington, for unlawful possession of cannabis and unlawful possession of drug paraphernalia following a traffic stop April 12 at 6:48 a.m. Police said they stopped Pendry’s vehicle for a loud exhaust system. In addition to the citations, police gave Pendry a written warning for the loud exhaust.

Cited for theft, marijuana

Yorkville police cited Shannon Ryan, 19, of the 100 block of Crooked Creek Drive, Yorkville, for retail theft and possession of cannabis April 14 at a business in the 900 block of Erica Lane. Police said they were contacted by a store’s loss prevention staff who observed Ryan taking two bottles of perfume and a balm past the point of purchase without paying for the items. Police discovered that Ryan had cannabis in her backpack. Ryan was given city ordinance tickets for both violations, police said.

Juvenile resisting arrest

Yorkville police arrested a female juvenile of the 0-99 block of Quinsey Lane, Yorkville, on April 12 for having no valid driver’s license and resisting arrest following a traffic stop on Route 34 at Countryside Parkway. Police said they observed her vehicle driving westbound on Route 34 with a flat driver’s side front tire. The juvenile was also cited for use of an unsafe tire and operating an uninsured vehicle.

DUI and other charges

Yorkville police arrested Tywon R. Austin, 34, of the 2700 block of Goldenrod Drive, Yorkville, for DUI and other charges following a traffic stop on April 15 at 12:27 a.m. Police said Austin was speeding 62 miles per hour in a 45 mph zone on Cannonball Trail, and then disregarded the stop sign at Alice Avenue and Faxon Road before he was stopped by police. Austin was arrested for driving under the influence of alcohol and driving with a revoked license, and cited for speeding and disobeying a stop sign, police said.

Suspended license

Yorkville police arrested Brandon C. Abraham, 28, of the 300 block of 5th Street, Sandwich, for driving while license suspended on April 14 following a traffic stop for expired registration at Galena Road and Cannonball Trail.

Passenger injured in crash

Yorkville police cited a minor residing on the 700 block of Morgan Street in Yorkville with failure to reduce speed to avoid an accident following a crash on April 13 on Route 47 approximately one-tenth of a mile north of Galena Road. Police said the minor’s vehicle was traveling southbound on Route 47 behind two other vehicles, and struck the rear bumper of the vehicle in front of him, a Subaru Legacy driven by Kevin D. Holt, 57, of the 300 block of West Kendall Drive, Yorkville. Police said Holt’s vehicle then struck the rear bumper of the vehicle in front of him, a Hyundai Sonata driven by Sandra Apentenco, 36, of the 2700 block of Hoffman Street, Plano. Apentenco was taken to Rush-Copley Medical Center in Aurora for treatment of injuries, police said. The minor’s vehicle and Apentenco’s vehicle were towed from the scene, police said.

Driver, passenger injured in crash

Yorkville police cited Catherine A. Case, 34, of the 300 block of Olsen Street, Yorkville, with disobeying a traffic control device and failure to reduce speed to avoid an accident following a crash April 13 at the intersection of Route 47 and Kennedy Road. Police said Case was driving a Pontiac G6 northbound on Route 47 and entered the Kennedy Road intersection on a red light, striking the driver’s side of a Ford F150 pickup truck driven by Steven F. Wohead, 60, of the 0-99 block of Hickory Lane, Oswego, who was turning left from Kennedy onto southbound Route 47. Both Case and her passenger, a minor female, were taken to Rush-Copley Medical Center in Aurora for treatment of injuries.

Driver injured in crash

Yorkville police cited Marissa A. Morales, of the 500 block of Cardinal Lane, Oswego, with failure to reduce speed to avoid a crash following an accident at the intersection of Route 34 and Cannonball Trail April 13 at 2:25 a.m. Police said Morales was traveling eastbound on Route 34 in her Chevrolet Cobalt and a semi driven by Darian L. Watson, 24, of the 60 block of South Talman, Chicago, was stopped at the eastbound traffic light at Route 34 and Cannonball. Morales told police she was sleepy and did not judge how long it was taking the semi to move ahead when the light changed, and the front end of her vehicle hit the back end of the semi. Morales was transported to Rush-Copley Medical Center in Aurora for treatment of injuries, and her vehicle was towed from the scene, police said. Watson was not injured in the crash, police said.

Cited following crash

Yorkville police cited Joseph C. Zimmerman, 21, of the 400 block of W. Park Street, Earlville, with disobeying a traffic control device and having no insurance, and cited Emily F. Bess Swanigan, 41, of the 200 block of Morgan Valley Drive, Oswego, with having no valid driver’s license, following an accident April 14 at the intersection of Route 34 and Cannonball Trail. Police said Swanigan’s vehicle was traveling northbound on Cannonball Trail and had a green light at the Route 34 intersection, while Zimmerman’s vehicle was traveling eastbound on Route 34 at Cannonball Trail, and Zimmerman’s vehicle struck Swanigan’s vehicle. Swanigan was transported to Rush-Copley Medical Center in Aurora for treatment of injuries, and both vehicles were towed from the scene, police said.
