The Sandwich Area Chamber of Commerce recently attended three member events. Peddler’s Den and Arts on Fire hosted ribbon-cuttings, and the Chamber held a new member meet-and-greet for Peaceful Child Montessori Academy.
Tonya Weakley’s specialty shop, Peddler’s Den, relocated to a new spot in Morris. The shop is now part of a boutique mall located at 112 W. Washington St. in the downtown shopping district of Morris.
Peddler’s Den is the area’s only independent rubber stamp and scrapbook store. It offers a selection of paper crafting supplies, local school papers and scrapbooks, an eclectic variety of stamps, dies and other card making essentials. Peddler’s Den offers classes and fundraising options. Weakley also has a variety of unique gift items for sale in the mall, including antiques, concealed-carry handbags and coffee. Peaceful Child Montessori Academy was founded by Amy Valela in 2016 and serves children ages 3 to 6. The Somonauk school provides a rich Montessori experience in which children learn based on their interests and natural stages of development. Arts on Fire recently hosted a ribbon-cutting and business after-hours event to celebrate its new location at 217 E. South St. in Plano.
The studio offers paint-your-own pottery along with other art projects, including canvas painting and fused glass projects such as sun catchers and jewelry. Classes and open studio time is available to artists of any age and experience level. Arts on Fire will also host summer mini camps beginning in June.
