Stephanie’s Academy of Dance recently announced plans to expand their program for people with special needs and individual learning differences.
“There’s a lack of opportunity for this community to experience the benefits of dance for all ages,” said studio owner Stephanie Clay. “We now have three levels of classes offered for those with special needs and individual learning differences. In April we incorporated classes for Early Intervention aged children. The Early Intervention class also includes sensory play and social skills with an Early Intervention therapist. We set out to learn as much as we could so we could offer purposeful dance classes that would benefit the students far outside the studio.”
In November, Clay became a certified instructor through Rhythm Works Integrative Dance, a clinically based hip hop dance program that utilizes sensory processing, kinesiology, and behavioral analysis as a foundation to build customizable classes for the students.
“We’re excited about the opportunities this program will offer our community,” said Clay. “These classes are currently available to the community. The students will serve as ambassadors by participating in local community performances to raise awareness of the importance of dance for everyone.”
Stephanie’s Academy of Dance is at 2230 Cornell Ave. in Montgomery. It offers all genres of dance for students and adults of all ages. The Academy has a full staff of professional instructors. For more information, visit stephaniesacademyofdance.com.
