To the Editor:
Orator and author Robert G. Ingersoll once said "There is no slavery but ignorance. Liberty is the child of intelligence." Five years ago the media, the Democrats and Barack Obama mocked then Presidential candidate Mitt Romney for expressing concerns about Russia being a political foe that can influence votes. MSNBC’s Chris Matthews stated “I don’t know what decade this guy’s living in.” Sen John Kerry lampooned, “Mitt Romney talks like he’s only seen Russia by watching ‘Rocky IV.'” VP Joe Biden jocularly chuckled, “It May Be A Gaffe; I Would Know,” while pant suit princess Hillary Clinton snidely remarked, “It’s so last season to be concerned about Russia,” and also implied that blaming Russia is also outdated. The icing on the cake came when Obama mocked Romney in a nationally broadcasted debate over Romney’s words.
The Democrats also have a history of being hypocrites when it comes to the Russians. In a 2009 story, Forbes magazine describes the evidence uncovered by the London Times in which Democrat Senator Ted Kennedy attempted to collude with the Russians to stop President Ronald Reagan from being re-elected. The Russians ignored Kennedy and to date not one Democrat has so much as raised an eyebrow. Silent still from the media is the $500,000 Bill Clinton received from Renaissance Capital, a Russian investment bank for a speech in 2010. Further, in a CNN interview by Fareed Zakaria, Russian diplomat and translator Dmitry Peskov affirmed that Russian Ambassador Sergey Kislyak had met with members of the Clinton campaign, a fact which Democrat pundits have ignored including former FBI head James Comey who also “coincidentally” cleared the Clintons in the White Water scandal as an investigator.
I do however believe that elections can be rigged as evidenced by a hot mic in 2012 in which Obama is clearly heard telling Russian President Dmitry Medvedev that he’d have more flexibility after he was re-elected. Who or what made Obama think he’d be reelected with such confidence? Did the Russians help Obama get re-elected?
People need to look for underlying stories in the headlines. I question the media moguls and politicians because they don’t what they’re talking about either and the preponderance of ignorance being disseminated by some leads me to believe that we have too many voters in our country who have forgotten the history of Russian involvement in the Democratic Party and not enough citizens questioning it.
