The Vietnam Moving Wall committee recently announced several projects supporting the Wall coming to Oswego this summer.
Healing Field flags are available for $40 each and will be dedicated to a veteran of past or current service. The flag will fly in a field of 2017 American flags with the honoree's name and message and will be available for pickup on July 4. To order, go to healingfield.org/oswego17.
Commemorative blue long- and short-sleeved shirts are available for purchase via the internet at vietnamwalloswego.itemorder.com. Long-sleeved shirts are $20 and short-sleeved shirts are $15. A portion of each sale is refunded to the committee. Shirts will also be available at PrairieFest over Father's Day weekend.
The committee needs hundreds of volunteers to help with flag assembly, setup, patron assistance, cleanup and parking and as name readers. To volunteer, or if you have a group that would like to help out over the weekend, email Lisa Garcia at lisag@rcwegman.com.
The Vietnam Wall will be located at Prairie Point Park in Oswego at the corner of Plainfield and Wooley Roads. It will be open continuously from June 29 through July 3. It is a collaborative effort between the village of Oswego, Oswegoland Park District, School District 308, Oswego Chamber of Commerce and the Fox Valley Veterans Breakfast Club.
