To the Editor:
I felt very honored to play a part in the Vietnam Moving Wall coming to Oswego last week. It was a year and one-half odyssey that garnered a life form of its own and in the end, was a magnificent tribute to our veterans, families and community.
I can’t say enough thanks to a phenomenal team. It was a pleasure to share that time with these guys and gals. My co-chairman Herschel Luckinbill and his wonderful wife Eva, to the guys that were there no matter what, Rick Gardner and Jim Davidson, to Peter Amodio, Bruce Peterson, Steve Sikorski, Rudy Keller, John Montesano, Tom Whitt, Chad Feldotto, Rachelle Stoller, Kevin Norwood, Michele Brown, Kris Kearns, Mike Eckburg, Mike Veseling, Rick Williams, Joe West, Jason Bastin, John Hodgson, Al Preseren, Joe Bennett, Grant Castleton and Mike Fee.
To our fabulous fundraising team of Brad Banks, Liz Dow, Scott Gryder, Angie Hibben, Cathy Katz, Jeannie and Jeff LaMarre, Steve Sikorski, Phil Smith and Joe West. To the hundreds of volunteers that showed up to help, read names, assist patrons. To Carol Gardner, Lori West and Peggy Krahn we say thanks for spending five non-stop days at the Wall. To Paul and Kim Chen for bringing the Wall to Oswego.
To our top sponsors Allied Bank, Joyce & Jim Frankino, Kiwanis of Oswego, Police Explorers Club, Sam’s Club, Wal-Mart, Stafford Auto, VAC of Kendall County, Wayne & Ardyth Greenwood, Clarence Bark Family, Culvers/Witcpalek Family, Fifth Third Bank, Hett’s Auto, Peter & Linda McDermott, PMR/Edelman Family and Weichert Realty.
To all our area food vendors. To our fireworks sponsors MK Brummel, Oswego Fire Protection District and Oswego Firefighters #4773. To Neal Dodd and Dodd Construction, to Unilock for an unbelievable donation and to Semper Fi for assistance with the walk. To Patrick Engineering, Tripp Insurance and Fox Valley Kickers Club.
But I really want to say a special thanks to Lisa Garcia for her tireless work making this all happen. So special. To Z Zidlicky for Garden Faire and PJ Elizondo from Premier Printing. What incredible workers on every little detail.
To Dave Kellogg and KRG for providing much-needed parking for the event. To the Blocker and Greenwood families for gators and carts, to our landscapers that brought it all to life, Twin Oaks, Garden Faire, The Growing Place and Figgins Landscaping.
And finally to our partners – Village of Oswego, School District 308, Oswego Chamber of Commerce, Fox Valley Veterans Breakfast Club and the Oswegoland Park District. It was beyond a community event that everyone should be proud of. And if I missed someone, I apologize and we thank you.
