To the Editor:
So as not to disparage DeKalb County, let us report that the area north of Hinckley on Somonauk Road is indeed replete with chicory and Queen Anne’s Lace. We found it interesting that the chicory seemed to bunch up which gave it even more intense color. Coming from Aurora, this time, on Galena and west of Route 47 the colors were also good. We are still not sure of the name of the yellow flower that is sometimes also along the way.
As an end-note, isn’t it amazing that the fields of both corn and beans are so absolutely even in height that looking out over the field, it gives the appearance of having been trimmed with some super hedge trimmer.
