To the Editor:
More from a member of the Montgomery “Return to Reason” coalition of Brolley, Lee, Jungermann and Sperling. Last week a Montgomery couple wrote a letter to the editor expressing dissatisfaction with the treatment of seniors in the new garbage contract that went into effect Aug. 1. Their letter ended with “Twice we have written to our Village President Matt Brolley and requested an answer. We have received no answer.”
I ran against Brolley in 2013 and lost the election for village president by a handful of votes. I am now retired, Medicare and Social Security eligible. Apparently there are a lot of Montgomery residents that need to be reminded about how proud they should be about having elected the youngest village president in Illinois. After all, he’s just been out of school for a few years and it’s totally unrealistic to expect understanding of our senior concerns from someone so young and inexperienced.
It must be remembered that Brolley has much bigger plans on his mind. Barely two weeks after his re-election he announced that he is running for a seat in the U.S. House of Representatives. Being village president is just a stepping stone for the résumé, so don’t hold your breath. I’ll say it again: fool me once...
