To the Editor:
It’s my view that people that drive motorcycles and cars with those loud mufflers are simply inconsiderate in that they don’t care about residences’ peace and quiet.
I am finding the annoying loud on a previously quiet roadway is very upsetting. Say you are in your own yard and a roaring goes by, loud as the old Oswego drag strip use to be. Forbid they stop at an intersection and accelerate at a normal speed. Now you’re stuck hearing that ungodly chortle for a good minute or so.
I’m a resident living by well-traveled Wolf’s Crossing Road. It’s a choice to make your vehicles or motorcycles that loud, not a necessity.
On top of that, the rider or driver does not have to hear most of their own racket since most of the sound is projected backwards.
Please lobby our local village of Oswego to legally lower the appropriate noise ordinance and then have the police solve the problem. If our community doesn’t agree with us, sadly our options are restricted to moving or insulating your home to the level where outside noise does not bother you.
That is all I have to say.
