Letter: No changing history

To the Editor:

Have we finally lost our minds, specifically the far left agenda setters in this country?

A theater in Memphis has announced that when the anniversary of the premiere of "Gone With The Wind" rolls around it will not be shown because it depicts slavery and the harsh realities of southern life in the mid-1800s.The insanity of the left is beyond comprehension. Folks, the last time I looked, "Gone With The Wind" was a work of fiction translated to a movie. Hattie McDaniel won an Academy Award for her performance. Oh, by the way she was African-American.

People, people, people .... slavery happened; we outlawed it 150 years ago. It still goes on in other parts of the world, but not here. Our history is our history. You cannot change what occurred eight to nine generations ago.

By the way, in Gone With The Wind, the South loses the war. The white slave holders were defeated. The land was scorched earth at best and the slaves were free. Perhaps someone will invent a time machine and some of these left-wing crazies can return to pre-Civil War days and change things. Until then, study our history and learn from it. Don’t try to change what cannot be changed.
