To the Editor:
The Democratic Women of Kendall County (DWKC) formed in April of 2017. There are currently 22 charter members, and many others attend regularly as guests. We meet every first Monday of the month at 6:30 p.m. at the Panera in Yorkville.
The following officers have been elected: Julie Gondar, President; Robyn Vickers, Vice-President and Chair of Social Media; Rachel Engelhardt, Secretary; Beth Kremer, Treasurer; Mary Cresto, Chair of Fundraising and Event Planning; and Val Burd, Chair of Media Relations. We have also approved bylaws, attended the Chairmen’s Association Brunch in Springfield, and completed registration as an Illinois PAC. DWKC will become a charter group of Illinois Democratic Women in January.
Since our formation this spring, we have held a variety of events, including: separate meet-and-greets for gubernatorial candidates Chris Kennedy, JB Pritzker and Daniel Biss; a candidate forum featuring the five Democratic candidates running in Congressional District 14; and an Inaugural Fall Celebration & Fundraiser that featured keynote speaker Susana Mendoza, state comptroller, and raised $1,000 for the Hispanic Federation’s hurricane relief efforts in Puerto Rico.
With a strong foundation in place, we look forward to 2018 and to growing our group, connecting with other Democrats throughout our county, working to elect Democrats to office, and supporting Democratic values.
