Montgomery Village Trustee Stan Bond will challenge long-time incumbent Kane County Clerk Jack Cunningham for the clerk's position in the March 20 Republican Party Primary election.
If elected, Bond believes he may be the first person ever from Montgomery to hold a Kane County-wide office. In a statement, Bond emphasized he is thankful for the countywide support he has received among both Kendall and Kane residents.
“It’s about time Montgomery takes a seat at the table of Kane county elected officials,” Bond says. “The leadership and community service I have shown in Montgomery will easily extend to the county level and will not conflict with my current duties as Village of Montgomery Trustee.”
“My business management experience will bring lower cost, better service, and more efficient procedures to the Kane County Clerk’s office, and my technology background will help provide the data security critical to protecting taxpayers and their families,” Bond continued. “No one wants to see their family information compromised, and I will not let that happen,” Bond added.
Cunningham, 76, has served as county clerk since 2002.
The clerk's office oversees voter registration and elections throughout the county with the exception of the City of Aurora, and processes and maintains personal records on individuals who apply for birth certificates, marriage certificates, passports and more.
