The Oswego Senior Center has multiple opportunities for volunteerism for all ages, individuals and groups throughout the year.
Kitchen volunteers: Help prep meals, drinks and snacks, serve food and/or clean up. Volunteers must be able to work with others in a fast-paced environment and must complete a food sanitation class provided by the Oswego Senior Center. Volunteers are needed for lunch, 11:30 a.m. to 2 p.m. Mondays, Wednesdays and Thursdays.
Volunteer bus driver: Driver needed for a 12-passenger bus to pick up participants for the lunch program and shopping and/or day trips. Drivers need to be competent, friendly, and at ease with driving on the highway and in the city. Volunteer will need to go through a training program prior to driving the bus. Time commitment is three hours per week for the lunch program Monday or Thursday, four hours per week for Wednesday shopping, or up to eight hours for day trips on weekdays.
Gift Shop volunteer: Must be able to lift, carry and move up to 20 pounds. Work with the gift shop manager to arrange and rotate inventory. Shop is open 9 a.m. to noon Mondays, Wednesdays and Thursdays, and for special events.
Help will be needed at upcoming events including:
Valentine Dinner Dance: Saturday, Feb. 10, set up, serve, clean up event.
Children also are invited to make crafts or cards at home and drop them off at the senior center for distribution.
