St. Edward’s and Christ Church of Joliet and Kendall County will celebrate three services of the Nativity of Our Lord, two on Christmas Eve and one on Christmas day.
On Christmas Eve day at 10 a.m., a service will be held at the St. Edward’s Campus, at the corner of Midland and Campbell streets in Joliet. This will be a combined “Advent 4/Christmas Eve” service for both campuses of the congregation.
The second service will be a live Nativity service at 4 p.m. on Christmas Eve at the Christ Campus, 2800 Grove Road, Joliet, five miles southeast of Yorkville. The theme of the service will be, “He Was Born in a Manger; Come Worship Him in a Barn.”
This service will be held in the newly-renovated “barn” at the Christ Campus “farm” site. A live creche scene will be a part of the candle-lit service, with congregation members performing as Mary and Joseph, the Wise Men, angels and Jesus. The creche scene will also feature farm animals, including sheep, and a donkey.
This year, there will be no midnight mass service on Christmas Eve. The Christmas Day service will be at 10 a.m. at the St. Edward’s Campus. This will be a traditional Christmas Day celebration.
Everyone is welcome to attend any or all of the services.
