Roundup: Christine Corpuz, Oswego East pull away to beat Joliet Central

GIRLS BASKETBALL

Oswego East: Christine Corpuz scored 17 points to pace the Wolves to a 60-43 win over Joliet Central on Dec. 15. Kalli Chval added 11 points and Abby Ford had 10 for Oswego East (6-7, 4-2), who led by eight at halftime and pulled away with a 9-0 run to start the fourth quarter.

Oswego freshman: The Panthers lost their first game on Dec. 15 to Joliet West 47-11. Olivia Solis had four points and eight blocked shots and Adrianna Melero scored four points for Oswego. The Panthers also lost the second game 35-26. Annabelle Moreno and Melero each scored seven points.

On Dec. 16 the freshman girls started the Burlington Central Tournament, beating Belvidere North 35-23 in the first game. Taylor Williams scored 11 points and Kaitlyn Tillmon added six. Oswego next played Rockford Boylan, losing 49-20. Williams scored nine and Melero added six.

WRESTLING

Oswego East: The Wolves lost a 52-27 dual to Plainfield South on Dec. 14.

Carter Skalicky (113) won a decision and Nicholas Patch (145), Austin Holpuch (160), Trevor Borden (182) and Jackson O’Reilly (195) earned pins for Oswego East.
