Oswegoland Park District to focus on repair projects in 2018

The Oswegoland Park District Board approved capital improvement projects for the new year costing $1,326,250 at their Dec. 21 meeting.

The projects will consist primarily of repairs and improvements with very few new additions.

The biggest and most costly items include adding LED lighting and rebuilding and paving the east side of the Fox Bend Golf Course parking lot for $260,000, and replacing the playground equipment at Winrock Park over three years at a cost of $170,000.

At the Fox Bend Golf Course, replacing a driving range net, engineering fees for replacing a cart bridge by the No. 17 tee, and purchasing four new club car utility carts and a new 72-inch rotary mower will cost $81,000.

Other projects at Fox Bend include paving a cart path, replacing the pavilion carpet and back deck railing, and purchasing new bar equipment, for a combined cost of $68,000.

Improvements to Boulder Point, totaling $47,000, include heating and air conditioning work and concrete work including upgrades.

The district also will spend $8,000 to restripe the Washington Park basketball court and improve the landscaping at Winrock Pool.

It will replace the signs in the parks for $12,000 and install a security camera system at the Civic Center for $20,000.

Pickleball players will be happy because 19 new off-street parking spaces will be added at Briarcliff Park in Montgomery at a cost of $59,000.

Concrete repairs, landscape restoration and redoing the basketball court at the Civic Center building, park and pool are estimated to cost $24,950, and repaving a path and repairing lake edge erosion at Farmington Lakes Park will cost $51,000.

Repairing a crack in the basketball court at the Community Park in Grande Park will be done at a cost of $10,000.

Various repairs and equipment replacements at Jaycee Park, Little White School Museum, Morgan Creek Prairie and wetland, Northampton Park, Ogden Falls Park, and the Hudson Crossing – Oswego Bridge, will cost $131,000.

Work at Prairie Point Center – redoing a wall, painting and repairs, replacing the heating and air conditioning, and repairing concrete – is estimated to cost $89,650, and various repairs at Prairie Point Community Park will cost $51,500.

Other work at the Prairie Point Community Park includes installing speed bumps in the parking lot, moving a field gate and installing two new field gates, for $7,500. And reconstruction of the detention basin in the park will be completed at a cost of $42,000.

Also on the list is $1,600 to color coat and stripe the basketball court at Ashgate Park and $10,000 to restore the shoreline at Augusta Lake Park.

Other projects include a permanent boat ramp at Saw Wee Kee Park, repainting and striping the basketball courts at Silverleaf Park and Summerlin Park, redoing the interpretive signs at Troy Park, and various repairs at Village Park, all estimated to cost $22,000.

The district also plans to replace the wood decking on the Violet Patch bridge for $46,000.
