Two people were injured in a crash involving three vehicles Dec. 28 at 6:58 a.m. on Galena Road east of Jones Road north of Plano, according to the Kendall County Sheriff's Office.
Police said the accident occurred when a 2013 Kia Optima, driven by Naomi Keith, 21, of the 11000 block of Shabbona Grove Road, Waterman, which was traveling westbound on Galena Road, collided with a 2013 Hyundai Accent being driven by Alyssa Turek, 22, of the 1000 block of Laverne Drive in Sandwich.
A third vehicle, a 2017 Kia Sportage, driven by Malissa Perkins, 49, of the 200 block of West Hall Street, Sandwich, was struck by flying debris in the collision, according to police.
Police said Little Rock-Fox Fire Protection District paramedics transported Keith to Rush Copley Medical Center in Aurora, while Turek was transported by Superior Helicopter to Good Samaritan Hospital in Downers Grove.
Perkins was not hurt in the crash, according to police.
Police said Keith was cited for failure to reduce speed to avoid an accident and operating an uninsured motor vehicle.
Galena Road was closed for approximately six hours following the crash as police, assisted by Plano police and the Kane County Accident Reconstruction Team, investigated the crash.
The crash was the second serious collision along Galena Road west of Route 47 since Monday afternoon, Dec. 25, when five people were critically injured in a two vehicle crash in the 13000 block of Galena Road, just east of Thursday's crash site.
