Speeding, license violation
County sheriff’s deputies ticketed April A. Jakovec, 35, of Montgomery for speeding between 24 and 34 mph over the posted limit after stopping her vehicle on Eldamain Road and Faxon Road in Little Rock Township Jan. 20 at 3:36 p.m. Police said deputies clocked Jakovec’s vehicle traveling at 75 mph before they pulled her over. Police said she was also cited for driving without a valid license.
Battery, resisting arrest
County sheriff’s deputies arrested Michael C. Duvall, 42, of Montgomery on charges of domestic battery and resisting arrest at a home in the 0-99 block of Afton Road in Boulder Hill, Jan. 22 at 9:54 a.m. Police said Duvall was transported to the county jail in Yorkville pending court proceedings.
County sheriff’s deputies cited Alejandro Cabanas, 26, of the 1600 block of West 35th Street, Chicago, for driving on a suspended license after they stopped his vehicle for speeding on Route 126 and Old Ridge Road in NaAuSay Township Jan. 20 at 8:27 p.m. Police said Cabanas was released at the scene pending a court date.
Newark man arrested
County sheriff’s deputies arrested Randall E. Scalf, 63, from Newark after stopping his vehicle for having an expired registration sticker in the area of Townhouse Road south of Route 52 in Big Grove Township Jan.19 at 10:20 a.m. Police said Scalf was arrested on a charge of driving on a revoked license.
He was also cited for driving without insurance, illegal transportation of alcohol by a driver and no valid registration. Police said Scalf was transported to the county jail in Yorkville pending court proceedings.
County sheriff’s deputies arrested Joseph R. Gergman, 36, of Oswego after stopping his vehicle for driving without headlights when required on Route 31 at Light Road in Oswego Township Jan. 21 at 8:50 a.m. Police said Bergman was arrested on a charge of driving on a revoked license. He was transported to the county jail in Yorkville pending court proceedings.
Frazier Road hit-and-run
County sheriff’s deputies are investigating a hit-and-run crash involving a single vehicle in the 16000 block of Frazier Road in Little Rock Township Jan. 21 at 8:07 p.m. Police said a vehicle left the road and struck a sign, causing damage to the sign and landscaping.
Cited after vehicle stopped
County sheriff’s deputies cited Melissa Mendoza, 32, of Aurora with driving on a suspended license after stopping her vehicle on Route 31 at Caterpillar Drive in Oswego Township Jan. 21 at 6:33 p.m. Police said Mendoza was later released on her own recognizance.
County sheriff’s deputies responded to a hit-and-run crash on Route 52 at Ridge Road in Seward Township, Jan. 16 at 4:04 p.m. Police said the offending vehicle, a white truck, hit the victim’s vehicle from behind and drove off southbound on Ridge Road.
DUI arrest in Boulder Hill
County sheriff’s deputies arrested Andres Castro, 40, of the 300 block of East Avenue, Aurora, on charges of driving under the influence and driving in the wrong lane on Marnel Road in Boulder Hill Jan. 14 at 4:30 a.m. Police said Castro crashed his vehicle on Marnel Road and then walked to a nearby residence. Deputies found him and, after he was checked for injuries by Oswego Fire Protection District paramedics, he was placed under arrest.
One cited, one injured in crash
County sheriff’s deputies ticketed Espino Hurtado Jr., 23, of Oswego after the vehicle he was driving was involved in a single-vehicle rollover crash in the 2700 block of Harvey Road in Oswego Township Jan. 14 at 3 a.m. Police said Hurtado’s vehicle left the road and struck a ComEd power pole, which disrupted electrical service for several homes in the Harvey Road area for several hours.
Police said a 23-year-old passenger in Hurtado’s vehicle told deputies he would seek treatment for non-life-threatening injuries at a local hospital.
Hurtado was cited for improper lane usage, failure to reduce speed to avoid a crash, operating an uninsured motor vehicle and leaving the scene of a property damage accident. A court date for Hurtado is pending.
