Caring people of the world have been making a difference in the community by volunteering their time for others. Senior Service Associates Inc. has positions available in its volunteer ombudsman program.
The word “ombudsman” is a Swedish term meaning “citizen’s advocate.” Volunteers’ top priority, after being properly trained, would be to advocate, empower, represent and intervene on behalf of residents residing in short-term or long-term care facilities.
By being the eyes and ears of the ombudsman program, volunteers would visit assisted living centers and long-term care nursing facilities in Kane, Kendall or McHenry counties. They would listen to residents, voice the concerns they may be having during their stay, and report those concerns to the volunteer ombudsman coordinator, who will then guide them on how to handle the situation.
Anyone interested in becoming a volunteer ombudsman should contact Tina Dolan at 630-897-4035 or firstname.lastname@example.org for more information.
