Roundup: Oswego Hall of Fame inductions Saturday

Oswego High School will be inducting the newest members of the Oswego High School Hall of Fame on Saturday. This will take place immediately following the sophomore boys basketball game, which starts at 5:30 p.m.

Athletes being inducted are Jeff Reed, Class of 1978; Shaun Neitzel, Class of 1991; Christina Hernandez (Meeks), Class of 2001; Aundrea Parson, Class of 2003; Andrew Galow, Class of 2009; Jordan Jeffries, Class of 2009; Collin McWethy, Class of 2009; Tim Riley, Class of 2009; Christina Siepka (Thomas) Class of 2009 and Katie Ziemnik, Class of 2009.

Steve Groth will receive the Pickerill Lifetime Achievement Award.


Oswego: Oswego finished fourth at the Southwest Prairie Conference tournament and sixth in the league. Rachel Clifton earned all-conference honors with a season average of 188.4. Oswego took third in JV conference.


Oswego: The Panthers (13-9, 6-3) defeated Plainfield Central 41-26 in a dual meet on Jan. 24. Winners by pin included Gannon Hughes (145) and Jake Duncan (182). Aric Nieves (113), Derek Torza (132), Dylan LaVigne (138) won major decisions. Sam Saravia (126) won by technical fall.

Oswego East: The Wolves lost to Plainfield East 42-31. Oswego East's Jackson O'Reilly won by pin at 182. Carter Skalicky (113), Evan Brauer (120), Nicholas Patch (145) won decisions and Austin Holpuch (160) won a major decision.


Oswego sophomores: The Panthers beat Plainfield Central 42-30 Will Wainscott led all scorers with 16 points, Joe Niesman added 11 and Jashaun Hurston had eight.

Niesman scored eight points, Waiscott added seven and AJ Freund had six for Oswego (9-10), which won its third straight game.


Oswego East varsity: Kaili Chval scored 11 points and Chelsea McCullum added 10 for the Wolves (12-11, 8-4) in a 48-43 loss to Plainfield East on Jan. 26.

Oswego freshmen: Oswego lost to Plainfield Central 21-18 on Jan. 26.
