Vehicle struck by tossed fruit, driver tells police

A Marseilles resident reported to Yorkville police over the weekend that his vehicle was struck by fruit while driving on Route 71.

Yorkville police said Michael A. McEmery, 57, of the 600 block of Washington Street, Marseilles was driving a Buick Enclave SUV north on Route 71 just north of Sleepy Hollow Road at 12:50 p.m. on March 10 when the driver of a pickup truck traveling in front of McEmery "tossed a bag of fruit out of the front driver's side window."

"The fruit, including bananas, hit the front driver's side headlight of (the Buick), causing the plastic cover to break and pieces of banana to get stuck between the headlight and the vehicle," police reported.

The pickup truck did not stop after the fruit was tossed, police said.
