To the Editor:
Hoorah, once again the tax man cometh. This year my real estate taxes jumped 9.1 percent and last year 16.5 percent. I’m on a fixed income, but that’s beside the point.
In the past I called my Little Rock Township assessor and Mr. Nicolette for the county to no avail. I recently read an article basically stating our state reps downstate are truly the only ones who can resolve this problem.
The majority of my tax bill goes to the Yorkville School District. The group running this operation is called superintendent of schools and associates. This overpaid group is nothing more than a personal bank, sucking the money out of our pockets. They have crested a dynasty expanding outward almost as fast as our universe.
Now I’ve received a brochure for a free senior fair to be held by state Sen. Sue Rezin, R-Morris, and state Rep. David Welter, R-Morris, in Morris to address our concerns.
To attend, one can win a door prize and have refreshments. Oh boy, oh boy, I can’t wait. My concern is lower my darn taxes and keep the doughnuts. This group works for one purpose in life – "to get re-elected." They are part of the problem, not a solution.
I’ve rambled enough. I guess the solution is, suck it up and pray you won’t lose your home because there is nobody out there in government who gives a damn.
