Roundup: Michael Bruell's complete game leads Plano baseball past state-ranked Hall

BASEBALL

Michael Bruell struck out four batters in a complete-game four-hit shutout for his first varsity win, leading the Reapers past Class 2A No. 1 Hall 1-0 on May 10. Dalton Cline was 1-for-3 and scored the lone run of the game for the Reapers on Bryson Schmidt's RBI groundout.

Visiting Rochelle scored nine runs in the top of the seventh to beat Plano 11-3 on May 14. Schmidt struck out eight and allowed three earned runs on five hits in 6.1 innings for the Reapers. Austin Buis was 1-for-3 with a run scored.

SOFTBALL

Plano

Grace Stevenson had two hits and a run scored, and Lexi Tisberger had a hit and an RBI for the Reapers (14-15, 7-8) in a 2-1 loss to Wheaton Academy on May 15. On the mound, Kaylee Read struck out eight.

Stevenson was 4-for-4 with three runs scored, Bri Lupa was 3-for-4 with two runs scored and four RBIs, and Tisberger was 4-for-4 with two runs scored and two RBIs in Plano's 11-1 win over Hall on May 10. Read was 2-for-3 with a run scored and an RBI. On the mound, Lupa struck out six and allowed just three hits.
