The SD308 Board of Education approved the appointment of several administrators at its meeting on Monday, June 11, promoting from within to fill the vacancies.
Southbury Elementary School Principal Dr. Lindsay Allen was chosen to serve as director of elementary education, effective July 1, replacing Dr. Melissa McDowell. Allen has served as the principal of Southbury since 2010, previously serving as the school's assistant principal from 2008-2010. Allen will earn an annual salary of $98,000.
Kenneth L. Miller, MPA, PHR, has been approved as the new executive director of human resources, benefits and payroll effective July 1; replacing Roxana Sanders who resigned from SD308.
Currently, Miller serves as SD308's assistant director of human resources. Prior to working at SD308, Miller was the senior human resource specialist/principal consultant for the Illinois State Board of Education. As executive director of human resources, benefits and payroll, Miller will receive a salary of $109,947.
Effective July 1, Assistant Director of Operations Robert R. Allison, III will step up to the position of director of operations, replacing Michael Barr, who has resigned after 15 years with SD308. Prior to working at SD308, Allison was the plant operations and maintenance manager for Aaramark, where he managed the day-to-day plant operations and maintenance program for Indian Prairie School District 204. As director of operations, Allison will earn a salary of $95,288.
Danielle Lee, who currently serves as SD308's Title I secondary mathematics implementation coach has been appointed to serve as assistant director for school improvement/data, replacing the previous position of assistant director of advanced programs.
Lee has worked with SD308 since 2006 when she started at Oswego East High School as a mathematics teacher. She served as the district's junior high summer school coordinator for two years, and led the charge in making district data more accessible to staff. As assistant director, Lee will earn a base salary of $70,000.
Starting July 1, Dr. Tammie Harmon will move from her position as principal of Churchill Elementary School in Oswego to serve as principal of The Wheatlands Elementary School in Aurora, after the resignation of Jeffrey Gerard.
Harmon has been with the district since 2015, having begun her education/teaching career in 1998 as a student teacher in a third-grade classroom in New Lenox, Illinois. As principal at The Wheatlands, she will earn a base salary of $93,299.
A search is currently underway to find new principals for Churchill Elementary School and Southbury Elementary School.
