Rich Healy, executive director of the Plano Chamber of Commerce, told Plano City Council members June 25 he had some good news for merchants and businesses who are looking for employees.
The news also is good for area residents who are looking for work, he said.
Healy said the chamber is planning to hold a career fair in early September.
“Many businesses have been displaying help wanted signs, so the Chamber plans to have a fair where the available workforce in the area can meet with the companies who need employees. Hopefully we can fill some of these job openings in the city,” he said.
They are talking to the Plano School District about the possibility of using a school for the event.
They will make all information available as soon as arrangements are complete, he said.
Healy also announced that the Plano’s Aldi store will be reopening with a soft opening in early July and a grand opening and ribbon-cutting later in the month.
The dates will be announced when set, he added.
Healy noted that the Chamber’s annual golf outing that was rained out recently is being rescheduled.
“We’re waiting for the golf course officials to tell us what dates are open so we can choose one and announce it. We’re hoping everyone who signed up will be able to play on the new date and that we might pick up a few new players,” he said.
