OHS Band Boosters hosting Buick Test Drive fundraiser Friday

The Oswego High School Band Boosters will host a test drive fundraiser sponsored by Woody Buick GMC from noon to 8 p.m. Friday, Aug. 10, rain or shine, in the parking lot adjacent to Ken Pickerill Stadium at Oswego High School, Route 71, in Oswego.

After meeting a minimum of 100 test drives, Buick will donate $20 for each test drive and will donate up to $10,000 for 500 test drives to the Oswego High School Band program. Woody Buick GMC will have 10 different car models on hand and each test drive will take under 10 minutes to complete. While walkups are welcome, you can visit tinyurl.com/WoodyBuick to schedule a time slot and reduce wait time.

Test drivers must be 21 years of age or older and insured. Bring your driver’s license and proof of insurance. Up to two drivers per address are allowed. You will also be asked to sign a waiver for the drive. Young children may sit in back seat during test drive (bring your own car seat if one is needed).

The OHS Band Program enters the new school year hoping to top a very successful 2017-18. Highlights from 2017-18 include the OHS Wind Symphony band performance at the Illinois Music Educators Conference in Peoria after being chosen by audition. The Wind Symphony was also selected to perform at the Superstate Festival at the University of Illinois for the fifth consecutive year.

Oswego High School’s three jazz bands performed strongly at the North Shore Jazz Fest, receiving straight Division I across the board ratings. All jazz ensembles ranked in the top half of their categories, with the OHS Blue Jazz II Ensemble tying for second place in its category. The OHS Panther Marching Band placed second at the Downers Grove Mustang Bowl – the school’s first ever top-three finish at a marching band competition – and took first place in the Individual Music and General Music Effect categories.
