Hall-Hoge descendants gather at family reunion

Nearly 85 people traveling from eight different states gathered on July 14 for the Hall-Hoge family reunion at the Norway Community Center. They are descendants of Stanley Hall and Bertha Hoge-Hall. Stanley’s father was William Hall of Harwell, Berkshire, England, who came to America in 1851. His mother, Nina Odell-Hall, came to Kendall/Grundy area from Gallia County, Ohio, around 1896. Nina’s ancestors have lived in America since the 1600s, three serving in the Revolutionary War and two in the War of 1812. Bertha Hoge-Hall’s parents, William and Carrie (Heckerson) Hoge, came to America from Norway in 1881 and 1892, respectively. Descendants in attendance ranged in age from 3 months to 103 years old. Donald Hall is the family patriarch. Of the nine Hall children, Donald lives in Rockford, Ralph lives in Arizona, Beverly lives in Minooka and Lynnette lives in Marseilles. Siblings Robert, William, Margaret, George and Barbara have passed. This family reunion has continued every other year since 1994, after the passing of both parents.
