BREAKING: Skeletal remains found in Montgomery identified as missing Aurora man

An Aurora man has been identified as the skeletal remains found Saturday, Aug. 4, on an island in the Fox River near the Route 30 bridge in Montgomery.

The Kendall County Sheriff's Office announced Tuesday, Aug. 7, that the remains of Trey Nathan Key Soesbe, 30, of Aurora were identified through forensic means.

Soesbe had previously been reported missing through the Aurora Police Department in December of 2015, according to the Coroner's Office.

According to the Coroner's Office, the investigation is ongoing and will continue with the assistance of the Kendall County Sheriff’s Office, the Aurora Police Department and Loyola University.

Police said deputies were summoned to the area at 10:32 a.m. after members of the Prairie State Canoeists discovered the remains on the island. The canoeists were conducting a river clean-up when the remains were found, according to police.

In addition to sheriff's deputies, personnel from the Oswego Fire Protection District, and the Kendall County Coroner's Office responded to the scene.
