SD308 Board appoints new director of health services

The SD308 Board of Education has approved the appointment of Debbie L. Miller to the position of director of health services for the 2018-19 school year at its July 30 meeting.

Miller, a registered nurse, has close to 20 years of educational nursing experience in various school environments including: school nurse; clinical nurse educator; supervisor of school health services; coordinator of school health services; certified school nurse for the deaf, hard of hearing, and vision programs; and school nurse. She has worked in very large, as well as small, school districts. Prior to educational nursing, Miller worked as an operating room nurse for several years.

In her position with SD308, Miller will earn a base salary of $105,000 for the 2018-19 school year, prorated for a July 31 start date.

Executive Director of Student Services Valerie Patterson said, "Ms. Miller's broad health services experience in varied settings in the educational field, as well as her certification in educational leadership, will be an excellent addition to the SD308 community."

Miller has an associate degree in applied science in nursing from William Rainey Harper College; a bachelors of science in nursing (BSN) from Saint Xavier University; a school nurse certification from National Louis University; and a masters' of arts in educational leadership (MAEL) from Aurora University.
