Letter: Something special lost

To the Editor:

Thank you, thank you, thank you, to the workers at the Oswego YMCA for all you’ve done over the past number of years to make the Oswego YMCA a very special place in my heart.

Oswego citizens, if you are not aware of it, the Oswego YMCA closed Wednesday, Aug. 15. My wife and I purchased a townhouse in Oswego nine years ago and one of the first places we interacted with people in the area was at the Oswego Y. They were then and continue to be tremendous ambassadors for your community. Your YMCA was friendly, accommodating and uplifting.

Of course the Y was clean, well run, well equipped but it was much more. Your Y had the human touch. It was much more than workouts, camps, classes; I always felt uplifted when I was in the building. Dana, Sam, and all the others who I know, thank you so much. I personally feel the community has lost something very special with the closing of the Oswego YMCA. Are there others who feel the same?
