Yorkville High School has announced this year’s 2018 Homecoming theme is “Around the World” with the dance theme “A Night in Paris.” The parade begins at 5:45 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 4.
The school welcomes all school and community organizations, as well as businesses to join the parade. Political distribution and horses are prohibited. This year, all parade entries must contact William Frye to confirm their place in the parade at firstname.lastname@example.org or you may call the YHS Academy’s main office at 553-4385 and leave a message. Details about the parade will be dispersed upon contact. All parade entries must be submitted before Monday, Oct. 1 at 3 p.m. No new entries will be allowed on the day of the parade. There will be trophies and cash prizes immediately following the parade at the Community Prep Rally on the varsity football field.
Any alumni interested in judging floats for the parade should contact Frye.
If you are just dropping off participants in the parade, park on the opposite side of Game Farm Road at the football field lot or the YHS Academy lot, then walk across the parking lot.
Lineup for the parade begins at the Yorkville High School bus circle next to the main campus at 4:45 p.m. Do not drive into the bus circle to drop off students or ask directions because this could interfere with the parade lineup.
For senior citizens wanting to ride on a class float, you may park in the “reserved section” of the front parking lot of YHS. In addition, a golf cart will be available to shuttle you to your alumni float (just notify staff upon your arrival).
Grandma Rosie’s Sweet Treats, The Pizza Puff Truck, The Cookout on Wheels and Cocos Tacos food trucks will be open starting around 4:30 p.m. in the parking lot in front of Yorkville Grade School.
