Tuesday, Sept. 18, is the first day to circulate nominating petitions for candidates seeking a city office in the April 2, 2019, election. Petition packets are available between 8 a.m. and 5 p.m. Monday through Friday at the city clerk’s office, 144 E. Railroad St., Sandwich.
The clerk will begin accepting candidate petitions for aldermen for Wards 1 through 4 at 8 a.m. Monday, Dec. 10, at the city clerk’s office. The city clerk’s office will be open 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through Friday, Dec. 10 through Dec. 17, for the purpose of accepting petitions.
Candidates who are in line at 8 a.m. Dec. 10, or whose petitions are received in the first mail delivery of the day or are retrieved from the first city hall drop-box pickup of the day, qualify for a lottery to determine ballot position. Subsequent filings are positioned in order of filing.
