Cross Country: Traughber qualifies team for state

Traughber Junior High’s cross country runners captured third place in both the boys and girls sectionals meet at Kaneland. That paved the way for the runners to compete in the IESA state meet this weekend in Normal. It is the first time since Traughber joined the IESA that the school will be sending teams. In prior years, only individual runners qualified for the meet. The following athletes will be running on the girls’ team: Eighth-graders Hallie Fioresi, Sophia Marasco, Emma Sato and Audra Soderlind; seventh-graders Kassadie Leasure and Kate Soderlind; and sixth-grader Amaya Houston. The alternates are eighth-graders Amanda Farrow and Eleanor Engel, and seventh-grader Erin Hartnett. The boys will be represented by eighth-graders Jett Breed, Will Kroener, Noah McIntyre, Brady Nelson and Dallas Randall; seventh-grader David Valkanov; and sixth-grader Bradley Stratton. The boys' alternates are eighth-grader Alex Ward, seventh-grader Patrick Jasinski, and sixth-grader Matt Everix.
