To the Editor:
Folks, really, really make a concerted effort to enjoy the next and last 12 years of your life. According to 29-year-old New York Congressperson Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez, because we the people of the United States are not doing anything about climate change, that is all the time we have left.
I would like to invite Ms. Cortez to travel to India with me. I have been there twice and traveled the subcontinent from Delhi to Mumbai to Hyderabad to Bangalore. The people of the United States cannot solve the unbelievably, impossible pollution problems created in India. Add China to the mix and numerous other countries who signed the Paris Accords and never came close to their climate commitments and you have a so-called crisis that cannot be solved.
In the '60s, the new ice age was upon us and all of North America was soon to be a giant glacier. When that did not occur, we hit the '80s and a new heat wave was coming and the polar ice caps would melt and we all will be under water in a few years. All of these predictions have obviously not occurred.
Does the climate change? Sure it does. It ebbs and flows, gets warmer, gets colder, it rains more often at times and sometimes we have a drought. If according to Cortez and we only have 12 years left, there won’t be much in that span that we will be able to do to save the earth.
My answer: party on, folks, only 12 years left.
