Yorkville School District 115 parents who are concerned about how to keep their children safe online are invited to attend the next On Point Speaker Series presentation “Cyber Safety: Kids & Tech” on Thursday, March 14. This free event will be from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. in the Yorkville Middle School Auditorium, 920 Prairie Crossing Drive, Yorkville.
Detective Rich Wistocki will lead the presentation to help empower parents and help them understand what is going on in their child’s technological world. The presentation will cover how parents can talk to their children about technology, parental responsibility, trending crimes, reporting incidents, collecting evidence, software for computers and cell phones, red flags, sexting, cyberbullying and social networking.
As a child crime expert, Wistocki has dedicated his career to helping children by pursuing, apprehending and prosecuting child predators. As an active cybercrimes detective, he educates others on investigative techniques and responsible digital activity.
Yorkville CUSD 115 invites parents to join in on this important conversation. Email Melinda Lasky, director of student services, at firstname.lastname@example.org with questions.
