Breaking up a fight
Yorkville police broke up a fight in the parking lot of a business in the 1500 block of Sycamore Road, Feb. 27 at 5:30 p.m. Police reported that two adult friends had been drinking alcohol and got into a fist fight. Both declined medical attention, and neither signed complaints. Police drove the individuals to different residences to keep them separated.
Driving while license suspended arrest
Yorkville police arrested Michael E. Moodie, 49, of the 500 block of East Broadway Street, Newark, on a charge of driving while license suspended after conducting a traffic stop in the 1600 block of North Beecher, Feb. 28 at 7:46 a.m. Moodie was also cited for disobeying a traffic control device and operating an uninsured vehicle.
Failure to yield citation
Yorkville police issued a citation to Farzana Sultan Jamal, of the 2000 block of Skylane Drive, Naperville, for failure to yield while turning left after responding to an accident in the area of Galena Road and Kennedy Road, Feb. 28 at 9:22 a.m. Jamal and the driver of the other vehicle were transported to Rush Copley Hospital.
A juvenile driver struck a deer while traveling along Fox Road near Poplar Drive at 9:45 p.m., March 1. No injuries were reported, and the vehicle was not towed.
Yorkville police cited John Chapman, 76, of the 4000 block of East 16th Road, Earlville, for spilling a load onto the roadway/unsecured load on Route 71 at 11:45 a.m., March 2. Chapman was traveling southbound along Route 71, when the single load strap holding his cargo, a set of metal lockers, broke and sent the cargo into traffic, striking a second vehicle, causing damage. No injuries were reported, and no vehicles were towed.
Yorkville police cited a juvenile for stealing clothing items from a business in the 900 block of Erica Lane at 4:22 p.m., March 2. The juvenile was released on notice.
Failure to reduce speed
Yorkville police cited Kailyn A. Saltzman, 19, of the 2000 block of North 4203rd Road, Sheridan, for failure to reduce speed to avoid an accident, after responding to a traffic accident in the area of Route 71 and West Highpoint Road, at 6:32 p.m., March 2. A second vehicle traveling in front of Saltzman became disabled, and Saltzman rear ended the vehicle, causing major damage to both vehicles. Minor injuries were reported; a female juvenile in the second vehicle was transported to Rush-Copley Medical Center in Aurora. Both vehicles were towed.
