Madison Childs and Jason Wilcox, seniors at Yorkville High School, will join other outstanding high school musicians from across the nation as part of Music for All’s 2019 Honor Band of America.
They were selected from numerous applicants for membership in this prestigious honor ensemble.
Childs and Wilcox are members of the Yorkville High School Wind Ensemble under the direction of Victor Anderson and Bobby Vriezen. They are also members of the Chicago Youth Symphony Orchestra under the direction of Allen Tinkham. They study under private instructor Garrett Matlock.
Both Wilcox and Childs play the clarinet and were selected by audition to rehearse and perform in concert as part of the Music for All National Festival, presented by Yamaha, March 14-16 in Indianapolis, Ind.
Childs and Wilcox join fellow Honor Band of America members from 24 states, representing 73 high schools. Ray Cramer, Professor Emeritus, Indiana University, is the 2019 conductor.
The Honor Band of America will perform in concert at 8 p.m. March 16 at Clowes Memorial Hall, located on the campus of Butler University. Members will also participate in instrumental master classes and other gala Festival events and socials.
Members were selected by recorded audition, evaluated by leading music educators.
