Yorkville opened the season with a 3-2 win over Joliet West on Tuesday at Route 66 Stadium in Joliet. Sophomore starter Evan May tossed four shutout innings while Sam Golinski picked up the win with two innings of relief. Elias Flowers earned the save while striking out two of three batters faced in the seventh. Louis Rodriguez (2-for-4, two runs batted in) put the Foxes on the board with a single in the fifth to plate two runs before sophomore Lukas Haddox drove in the winning run with a single in the sixth. Jake Rybicki (2-for-3) added a triple, and Justin Weis doubled.
