Motorist drives into building
An Oswego resident, Richard Barnett, 36, was injured at 1:31 a.m. March 17 when the vehicle he was driving left the roadway in the 500 block of Boulder Hill Pass and struck a building, Oswego police reported. Police said Oswego Fire Protection District paramedics transported Barnett to an local hospital. Damage as a result of the crash was estimated at more than $1,000.
DUI, obstructing arrest
Oswego police arrested Jake Matthaya, 50, of the 6000 block of Ventura Drive, Plainfield, at 9:11 p.m. March 17 after stopping the vehicle he was driving on Plainfield Road at Woolley Road. Police said the suspect was charged with driving under the influence and obstructing a peace officer. The suspect later posted bond and was released pending court proceedings, police said.
Investigate computer scam
Oswego police are investigating a computer fraud incident in which a 55-year-old village resident was scammed out of $999.
Juvenile arrested at OEHS
Oswego police arrested a juvenile at 3 p.m. March 15 at Oswego East High School on a felony charge of disorderly conduct. Police said the arrest was the result of an incident that occurred at 2:30 p.m. March 14. The juvenile was transported to the Juvenile Justice Center in St. Charles pending court proceedings.
DUI arrest on Route 25
Oswego police arrested Aaron J. Leyna, 19, of the 600 block of Jungles Avenue, Aurora, at 4:07 a.m. March 16 in the 2100 block of Route 25. Police said Leyna was charged with driving under the influence. He posted bond and was released pending court proceedings.
Oswego man facing charges
Oswego police arrested Brian Bell, 39, of Oswego, at 9:12 p.m. March 13 on Old Post Road at Barnaby Drive. Police said Bell was charged with leaving the scene of a property damage accident, driving while license suspended, failure to reduce speed to avoid an accident and driving without insurance. Bell posted bond and was released pending court proceedings, police said.
Seek theft, battery suspect
Oswego police are seeking a suspect in connection with a retail theft and battery that occurred at 6:28 p.m. March 11 at a store in the 2600 block of Route 34. Police said the suspect stole merchandise from the store. Police described the suspect as a white female, about 45, wearing a black jacket and gray pants.
Oswego man cited
Oswego police cited Odis T. Horne Jr., 50, of the 500 block of Heritage Drive, Oswego, for leaving the scene of an accident at 10:05 p.m. March 11 in the 500 block of Heritage Drive. Police said Horne was released at the scene pending court proceedings.
One hurt in Route 34 crash
A Plano resident, Maria Cadena, 72, was injured when the vehicle she was a passenger in was rear-ended by a vehicle driven by Marbely S. Uzcategui, 36, of Aurora on March 14 on Route 34 at Mason Square Drive in Oswego, village police reported. Police said Cadena was treated at an area hospital.
