Roundup: Lauren Howard strikes out 10 for Foxes in pitchers' duel at Kaneland

SOFTBALL

Yorkville

Lauren Howard struck out 10 and allowed just five hits for the Foxes (13-2), but Kaneland's Emilee Erickson won the 1-0 pitchers' duel Tuesday, striking out 14 in a one-hit shutout.

Teaghen Amwoza hit three home runs and Ellie Alvarez and Lexi Meyer also went deep once for Yorkville in a 21-11 win over Plainfield East on Monday. Calli Bishop went 3-for-4 with a home run and Meyer also homered for the Foxes in an 11-1 win over Metea Valley on Friday. Howard struck out five in a three-hitter.

GIRLS SOCCER

Yorkville

Hailey Wojcik had three saves in goal for the Foxes in a 3-0 loss to Sycamore on Tuesday. Yari Aguado had a goal and two assists, and Maddie Grandys had a goal and assist for Yorkvillein a 4-0 win over Coal City on April 3. Abby Wahl and Marsden Fisher also scored goals for the Foxes, and Wojcik had two saves in goal.

BASEBALL

Yorkville

Sophomore Kyle Mack struck out six over 5.1 innings in his first varsity start, and Brett Rhodes recorded the final five outs as the Foxes beat LaSalle-Peru 5-2 on Tuesday at Route 66 Stadium in Joliet. Cole Yearsley was 2-for-4 with a triple and run scored and Ryan Shimp 2-for-4 with a double, RBI and run scored for Yorkville (8-6).

Marmion scored seven runs in the fourth inning to beat Yorkville 8-6 on Monday. Lukas Haddox was 2-for-3 with a run scored and Bryan Corrigan 2-for-4 with an RBI for the Foxes.

Jack Fisher drove in three runs with two hits in Yorkville's 6-2 win over Romeoville on Saturday. On the mound Fisher notched the win, striking out three over 4.1 innings. Josh Reifstech scored two runs.

Newark

Corey Jacobson was 2-for-3 with two doubles and three runs scored, Ethan Jeffers doubled and drove in a run and Jacob Slivka tripled and drove in a run for the Norsemen in a 7-4 win over Hinckley-Big Rock on Tuesday. Winning pitcher Tegan Kruzer struck out two over four innings. Lucas Pasarkanis was 3-for-4 with a doubule and an RBI, Connor Swanson 2-for-3 with three RBIs and Mitchell Kruger 2-for-3 with a double and two RBIs, and Dalton Reibel struck out five in an 11-0 win over Hinckley-Big Rock on Monday.

Slivka struck out six and scattered eight hits, and Slivka, Jacobson, Reibel and Swanson drove in runs in a 5-4 win over Indian Creek on Saturday. Slivka went 3-for-4 with three RBIs and Reibel 4-for-4 with a double, RBI and three runs scored in a 14-4 Game 2 win over Indian Creek on Saturday.
