Centennial third-graders study trees

Third graders at Centennial were learning about trees in their reading curriculum. They collaborated with Amy Hamilton from Plano school district's Building and Grounds department to "spruce" up the lesson. Hamilton took the students on a field trip around the outside of the school to show them the plants and trees that live around their school. She taught them about different types of trees, how they grow and how important they are for our planet. It was a wonderful collaboration between the teachers, the Building and Grounds department, Instructional Coaches, Mr. Zeman and the STEM teacher, Jennifer Jernigan to create meaningful hands-on lessons to engage the students in learning about nature during Earth week.
