Indian Valley Vocational Center has been awarded two grants by the DeKalb County Community Foundation.
At a May 9 grant reception in Sycamore, a check for $2,497 was received from the Youth Engaged in Philanthropy, a youth-led program of the DeKalb County Community Foundation. The grant will fund purchases of hazmat training suits, a gas meter, hoses, sprayers and other supplies that IVVC fire science students will use for hazardous materials training under the supervision of their instructor, Sandwich Fire Chief Jake Pruski.
A $1,750 grant was received at a grant reception May 20. These funds will support the purchase of a sit-to-stand lift for the IVVC Certified Nurse Assistant program. Students will use the sit-to-stand lift to practice patient standing transfers, one of the 21 performance skills required to achieve CNA certification.
IVVC wishes to express their sincere gratitude to DeKalb County Community Foundation for their support.
