YORKVILLE – There will soon be a new principal for Circle Center Elementary School.
The Yorkville School District 115 Board of Education voted, 6-0, to approve the hiring of Shannon Hamm during their Monday, June 24 meeting at Yorkville High School. Hamm’s contract with the district begins July 1 and her first day at the school will be Aug. 1.
Hamm said she is looking forward to meeting and building relationships with school staff, students and families within the district. She said Circle Center is the type of school where she has always wanted to work.
“To be honest, it’s my dream job,” Hamm said.
Hamm’s salary for the Yorkville position is $81,500.00 plus administrative benefits, according to school board documents.
Hamm has a bachelor’s degree in elementary and special education from Lewis University, a master’s degree in teaching and leadership from Saint Xavier University, according to a District 115 news release. She also has a Certificate of Advanced Study in administration from Lewis University, the news release said.
Hamm will assume the role from Gina Isabelli, who served as the school’s principal since 2015. Isabelli resigned from the Yorkville position to become principal at Western Avenue Elementary School in Flossmoor.
Before being hired within Yorkville District 115, Hamm was an instructional coach at Irene King Elementary School in Romeoville. She also has served as a co-principal at Saratoga CCSD 60C in Morris and an assistant principal at Troy CCSD 30-C in Shorewood at a preschool-through-fourth-grade school.
The school board also approved the transfer of Martha Venetucci, current Yorkville Middle School dean, to the assistant principal position at Bristol Bay Elementary School. Venetucci has worked within the district since 2007 and has worked as teacher at Yorkville Intermediate School and a reading specialist at Yorkville Middle School before assuming her role as dean.
