It’s Showtime at the Library Summer Reading Program for Adults & Teens – Jun 1 – July 31: Stop by the library and pick up your reading log, read 6 books, complete and return your reading log before July 31 and your name will be entered into our drawing for one of our grand prizes. You can also sign up for weekly prize drawings of gift cards from local businesses. Also each adult program you attend during the summer will automatically enter you into our weekly drawings.
Men’s Book Club: Thursday, July 18, 7 p.m. The Men’s book club meets on the third Thursday of each month at 7 p.m. for a lively thought-provoking discussion. A wide array of book choices and discussions will keep you excited and energized about reading. You’ll be introduced to fascinating books across all genres, learn about new authors, and meet people from your community. The Strange Case of Dr. Couney by Dawn Raffel will be discussed in July. No registration is required, and newcomers are always welcome.
George Burns Alive Again and in Concert: Saturday, July 20, 2 p.m. A one-man musical comedy performance by actor, director, writer, teacher and filmmaker— Duffy Hudson. Hudson will tell stories, sing songs and talk about the entertainer’s life. George Burns was 100 when he died in 1996. Sponsored by the Friends of the Library and registration is required.
Monday Movie Madness!!!: July 29, 1 p.m. The last Monday of each month the library will show a feature film with refreshments. The July movie is about a working-class Italian American bouncer who becomes the driver of an African American classical pianist on a tour of venues through the 1960s American South. This film won academy awards for best picture, best supporting actor, and best original screenplay this year. Call the library for more details. No registration is required.
Creative Writing Group: Tuesday, July 23, 7 p.m. Whether you are looking to write the next thriller, your biography, a short story, or even develop your professional writing skills, this program may be for you. This group is for all people who are passionate about words. Its intent is to create a positive, encouraging, honest, and fun atmosphere that will support and motivate each other to achieve excellence in writing. Meetings are held on the fourth Tuesday of the month. No registration is required.
