Sandwich man killed in rollover crash; driver facing DUI, other charges

A Sandwich man was killed in a single-vehicle rollover crash at 9:02 p.m. Tuesday, July 9, on Sudyam Road east of Somonauk Road near Somonauk, according to the DeKalb County Sheriff’s Office,

Police identified the victim as Bradley A. Baumann, 44, of the 1600 block of Sudyam Road.

Police said Baumann was a passenger in a Chevrolet Tahoe driven by Autumn M. Jensen, 21, of the 600 block of Terrace Way, Plano.

Jensen, who was treated for minor injuries at the crash site, has been charged with aggravated driving under the influence, reckless homicide, driving under the influence of alcohol, improper lane usage and using an electronic device while driving, according to police.

If convicted of the most serious charge of aggravated driving under the influence, Jensen faces up to 14 years in prison.

Police said the accident occurred when Jensen, who was driving eastbound on Sudyam Road, drove off the the roadway, causing the Tahoe to rollover.

Baumann, who police said was not wearing a seat belt, was ejected from the vehicle.

He was transported to Northwestern Medicine Valley West Hospital in Sandwich where he was pronounced dead.

In DeKalb County Court on Wednesday, Judge Robbin Stuckert released Jensen on her signature along with pretrial supervision and she must wear an alcohol monitoring ankle bracelet.

The sheriff’s office and DeKalb County Coroner’s Office are continuing their investigation into the crash.
